A resit record won't be automatically created on honours or PGT courses. If the student will resit you'll need to create the record by publishing the first sit with the R grade. Resits for professional purposes. Resits for professional purposes are not currently supported in the Assessment Hub. To manage this scenario you'll need to store the resit mark outside of the system. Resits Board Report. You can use the resits course board report in BI to show the results for resit and null sit students on your course.
Disregarding components in resit. Additional attempts. If a student is allowed more than two attempts the third attempt usually falls into the next academic year. If the third attempt will be completed in the same academic year you'll need to manage this outside the system. Undo resits. Superusers can undo a resit if it's no longer required or if you need to make changes to the first sit record. To clarify, the five working days start after the release of the results i.
Please see the following table showing the five working day periods:. If your results were released on i. Then the five working days will expire at We want to make sure you receive the best academic advice possible before you make any decisions.
Your decision may potentially have important implications. In particular, retaking assessments will replace your earlier results. This is particularly important if you have already achieved the grades that will allow you to progress or complete your degree.
The answer to this depends on your individual circumstances. Please contact your Support Centre or the Henley Helpdesk to discuss possible options. All students must pay tuition fees or confirm they have met the fee liability upon enrolment as outlined in Section 6 of the University fees policy.
This is whether you have paid your fees yourself self-funded , or they are paid by the Student Loans Company, or a sponsor pays your fees. For self-funded students a refund will be issued in line with the University fees policy. You will receive your loan as long as you have completed enrolment. If you have any queries about your personal circumstances please contact our Student Financial Advisory Team. We are aware that there are a number of examinations with practical components that cannot be undertaken remotely.
In these cases the relevant Schools are liaising with professional bodies and considering how to manage this. Please contact your School if you have any queries.

It may not be the best option if you are in either of the situations below: You have achieved an overall pass or degree classification which is similar to the marks you normally achieve.
You are a Part 1 student who has achieved marks that allow you to progress into Part 2. Because marks in Part 1 do not generally contribute to your final degree result, it will usually be best to focus on your studies ahead instead of retaking.
Before submitting a request to retake an assessment, you should consider the following: Your original assessment mark will be annulled deleted and replaced with the retake mark.
Even if your retake mark is lower than your original mark, this will be the one on your record, even if you fail the retake. You will not be able to choose the better of the two marks. Once a retake has been requested and granted, you cannot then choose not to do the retake.
If you have met the requirements to progress to the next stage of study, we recommend that it would be better to spend this time focusing on the new academic year. Results from the September re-sit period re-sits, retakes and deferrals will not be published until after the start of the new academic year.
We plan to publish these results at the end of October or early November. When you have your results, you will again have the opportunity to request retakes of any assessments taken in the resit period if you have circumstances which have adversely affected you over the summer.
If you are taking re-sits or retakes in September, then we will advise you on your options after your results for these have been published. These will be in the same format as the summer examinations. Please note that you will still be charged for the period you were resident in Halls. Please see the following table showing the five working day periods: If your results were released on i.
Wednesday 22 July. Wednesday 29 July. Thursday 23 July. Thursday 30 July. Your mark from a sit attempt is not capped and may be combined with marks you achieved for other assessments from the module. You might be offered a sit if we accepted an exceptional circumstances claim. You must decide by the deadline shown on your Module Results page in Sussex Direct.
Select the "accept" or "decline" option. You can change your decision as many times as you like before the deadline. If you fail your resit, we might allow you to progress into your next stage of study with a trailed resit — this means you have to take the resit to get the credits for the module but you can do it later on. A repeat year means you do the teaching, learning and assessments again to get the credits you need to progress on your course or earn a degree.
If a repeat stage is not offered by the summer exam board, this may be offered by the resit exam board in September. Contact your School to discuss this option. Find out more about making an appeal. For more detailed information about resitting an assessment, see our regulations. Welcome to the University of Sussex.
