Should i book through booking.com

Traditionally, travel arrangements were booked through an agent who specialise in hotels, flights and everything else in between. Today, sites like booking. Each listing should have plenty of images you can flick through, with a comprehensive description on the location, things to do around the property, and facilities etc. That said, there would be no harm in taking some precautions to mitigate any miscommunications between booking.

If you have any further requirements such as the balcony view, or breakfast included — you could even go as far as double checking this with the accommodation provider. Otherwise, booking. Is booking. We often encourage our members to book via the platform, so just how safe is booking.

To get the best deal, you should always surf the Web for the best hotel price, right? Well, no, not anymore. Hotels are increasingly trying to sweeten the pot if you agree to book a room directly with them.

By Juliana Shallcross. For most travelers, booking a hotel room often comes down to one important variable: price. And for several years, online travel agencies called OTAs in the industry like Expedia and Priceline, have been the go-to booking sites for the cheapest rates. Reserving directly with a hotel is the safest and best bet for reasons ranging from receiving special treatment to direct recourse should something go wrong.

Accountability: When the reservation relationship is between the guest and the hotel only, it's clean and easy because there are only two parties involved: the customer and the business. When a third party booking site gets involved is when things can get messy. For example, sometimes reservations are not actually processed and the site and the hotel can pass the blame back and forth. This can potentially leave you with the wrong room or without a room at all, and there's little hope for recourse.

If you want to see some horror stories, take a gander at ConsumerAffairs. Price matching: The big and probably only draw with booking through sites like Kayak and Travelocity is that they seem to turn up the lowest prices, even if it's just by a few dollars. They are a partner for my local railroad. I get rewards for using them. My next trip the travel portion will be free.

Not a smart reason to use any company but I'm not picking one hotel over a different one. I have no qualms at all about using Booking. My preference, however, remains firmly to book direct. Remember that a reservation platform or agent has no impact or responsibility for service delivery at a hotel or the quality of the accommodation provided. As said, it's much better to make sure that you choose the right hotel for you in the first place.

And that means research. I start with a combination of Booking. I identify hotels that meet my budgetary and location needs, then I whittle them down for quality by reading reviews. I read as many as I can, and don't restrict myself to one website only.

This way I get to satisfy myself that I'm booking the right place. If you have an issue with the hotel it doesn't matter how you book, the issue is between you and the hotel. It's up to the hotel to fix it.

We're not going to count the people who want the hotel to fix issues beyond their abilities to fix, like the power going out for half the city. Or the person who wanted me to make coyote wild animals stop howling.

If your room needs two more towels do you blame the third party for that, too? Aside from all the excellent responses above, Booking. Their information is directly loaded by the hotel, their rates are directly loaded by the hotel, their policies are directly loaded and enforced by the hotel.

In addition, they do not involve themselves in the payment process, they are effectively a data transfer platform, with an extremely high rate of accuracy and satisfaction. As mentioned by others, should you happen to stumble across a bad hotel, no agent or platform is going to help - not even the hotel themselves.

So booking direct is no guarantee of better service delivery. Just because someone wrote about it, doesn't mean it's legitimate or the fault of the agent. Name some of your favourite companies around the world, and I assure you someone has complained about them. But don't take our word for it, go try a few other agents and options, and see how they work out. The reasons other posters have given for using booking.

The first booking site that I used frequently was www. It worked quite well and made me feel that booking sites are worthwhile. However, I got tired of their typical payment regimen which for almost all properties required me to first pay an immediate deposit and then pay the rest of the room charge many days before arrival. I always had to worry about being unable to travel. I also was using an unreliable Internet connection and had the constant worry that the connection would fail in the middle of payment resulting in a mess to be sorted out with my credit card company and the booking site.
